Theri is a great entertainer with Vijay and Samantha, Radhika, Baby Nainika in lead roles. The story is nothing new to Tamil movie goers but the screenplay was so good to touch every emotion of us including pain, suffering, anger, pleasure and makes us go through the same emotions that hero and others go through in the movie. That is not usually done well by all directors, but Atlee seems to have mastered it.
Some of the locations including few in Kerala, last scene in Indo-China border of Ladakh and few sets were gorgeous. But for the amount of budget they had at their disposal we could have seen lot more in this big banner movie; little disappointed there.
Baby Nainika was so cute and the dialogues with her and dad were so sweet to watch. Absolutely great timing for the "baby" dialogues and if one does not enjoy that he should not be buying a ticket for this movie.
Dance by Vijay and Samantha was enjoyable and stunts were good to enjoy as we have violence in our blood watching Indian movies from when we were babies. The theme music during stunts was great. But the songs themselves were either not great or the voices were strange. Come on, they should know that better. Songs make or break the movies in many cases.
What's the deal with Amy Jackson. The "Babe" actress is speaking Malayalam, Tamil fluently in a nerdy role. You don't need AJ to do that role. She was in one song and that was during the credits at the end. That is almost a crime.
The Villain has do

Vijay and Atlee combination works. After Raja Rani Atlee has ventured into directing a mass flick with Theri. The movie has all commercial elements and Vijay has done it well. The cop politician revenge story is nothing new but the way Atlee has packaged it makes it work big time. A sure shot treat for the Tamil New Year and Vijay fans must be very happy.
